Is there a risk of depreciation of your boat?
A 10m long Dutch cruiser with 4 to 6 berths is worth around 200000€ brand new. 10, 15 or 20 years later, the price stabilizes at 40000€ or 80000€ depending on the level of maintenance provided. Unless left on the spot to rot, the lifetime of a steel hull ship is approximately one century, the lifetime of a polyester hull ship is between 40 and 50 years. This leaves you a reasonable length of time and this is the reason why, after 15 years, the market price for your boat remains stable and depends essentially on the way it has been maintained.
